We've had 5 Spanish lessons, where we've learned about numbers, how to have a conversation, days of the week, months of the year, and colours. In my next post, I will be showing you what I've learned. Leave a comment and let me know what you've been doing for the last two weeks at school

Mind Reading: Using Maths

Hello, this is our trick to "mind-reading" using maths. It's pretty simple, and
fun to use on your friends. This is using something called binary numbers, myself
and three others have been learning about them with our teacher. Leave a comment
and let me know if you've ever used this, and how it went.

Inuit - Inquiry

Hey, for inquiry this term we are going to be learning about culture
and art. For the past couple of days we've been with our home groups
learning about the cultures and what's it's like living where they do.
As you can see, I've been learning about Inuit, Canada's native people.

Algebra Evidence

Hello, at the end of last term we were working on something called linear equations,
which is a part of algebra. We were working with patterns and predictions.
My favourite part of algebra is elementary algebra because you have to
work more with basic concepts.
Let me know what your favourite part of maths is and why.

2019 Goals-Where Am I Now?

2019 Goals-Where Am I Now?

In week 2 or 3, we made these goals. do you remember? I am now
updating where I am now, as you can see there are black
arrows. These are pointing to where I think I am in terms of
these goals. In maths, I've been working on stuff at home,
which has really helped with any struggles. Recently, I have
picked up a book that I would've prior thought was extremely
boring. Now that I'm reading it, I'm intrigued to see how many
other books I may have turned my nose up at and could now have
a go at. In writing, I do already read through my stories but I need to
work on making them more interesting. I'm proud of myself for
trying something new and taking a step into the
deep end. I'm working through these goals and I don't
think that it's necessary to change them.
Leave a comment and let me know
your goals for this year.
Have you achieved them?
What are your next steps?

Narrative Hook Introduction

Hook Introduction

The dismay in his eyes was the most hurtful thing I’ve had to deal with.
His cute blonde locks rippled in the wind that was blowing through the open window next to our booth.
“Please don’t get off this train, Emma. It’s not safe.” He whispered softly into my ear. I had to adjust my hearing aid to actually hear him. “Can you say that again?” I asked, not realizing that he’d said something important. “...Never mind…” He drooped his head. A sudden squeal of rust and metal rubbing together
indicated that it was time to get off. A stray tear rolled down my face, followed by an army of more. He grabbed my green blouse and pulled me in for a hug.“Goodbye, my love.” I kissed his ear and grabbed my
duffel from the overhead carrier. He turned away, not able to bare the thought me leaving him.
I felt my body pull itself away from him, and before I knew it, he was out of sight.
Suddenly I was thrown into a crowd of unfamiliar faces, people that too had families to see.
Everyone was moving and I held my ear, as it started ringing from all the noise. Just one more look…
I turned around and tried to take a glimpse at the train, but it was now gone, and so was my love…

In Literacy, we have been learning how to make a good hook to start off a narrative, to pull
in the reader and make them want to continue reading. Have I hooked you in?Comment below if you would want to keep reading! Let m know if you want me to post the rest of the story.

Helpful Word Art

Helpful Word Art

In class, we were told to make some word art, but to use
overused words that may occur many times in our writing.
My words, as you can see, was beautiful, and all around it
there are smaller words that I can use instead of beautiful,
to make my writing sound much more interesting and
more enjoyable. I hope you can use this
as a learning resource, and can
use these words to make
your use of words
more broad.

Leave a comment and let me any words that YOU might
think I could put into some word art and find lots of
synonyms that might sound better when put together.

The Amazing 5R's

The Amazing 5R's

Hello everybody! Merry Christmas and a Happy new year!
I'm starting the year off with my 5R's slide, showing what they should look like, e.g,
Resourcefulness, Reflectiveness, Respect, Reciprocity and Resilience.

At Marshland School we try to show as many of the 5R's as possible in
our normal school day. In our presentation, it explains how you can show
the 5R's, and what they mean. I hope you enjoy the slideshow, and make
sure to leave a comment letting me know what you thought of it, and in what
ways I could improve. How can YOU show the 5R's?
